Dear Residents of North Fairfield Village,

The Village of North Fairfield will be offering trees to residents for purchase. The trees will be one-year-old Japanese maples. The trees will arrive 12-18 inches tall and will be shipped in one gallon containers. The trees are burgundy-colored in the summer and will turn bright red in the fall. The village would like these trees to be planted in the front yards of homes to replace trees that have been cut down or were lost when the tornado hit the village. The Japanese maples will grow to be about 25 feet tall at maturity, which will take 20-25 years. A tree this size will either not need to be trimmed or could be trimmed by the power company under electrical lines and maintain a somewhat natural shape. If you do not want the electric company to trim your trees in the future, you should try to plant the trees at least 15 feet back from power lines. Trees should be planted at least 6 feet from concrete surfaces so tree roots do not push the concrete up as they grow. The price per tree is $25. There is a limit of 2 trees per household/residence.  Planting and maintenance instructions will be provided when the trees are picked up, which will be approximately two weeks after the deadline. The village will have 20 trees available for purchase this year. Orders are due by May 15th and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please place your order as soon as possible. Full payment, cash only, is due when your order is placed. Payment for trees should be deposited into the village drop box at the North Fairfield Library in a sealed envelope that is labeled with your name, address, phone number, and quantity of trees ordered. If you have any questions, call or text tree committee member Bryan Oney, at 419-744-7239.
